BIODEGRADABLE FILMS AND MIXTURES THAT HAVE NANO-STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS. |
abstract |
A thermoplastic polymer composition with a tertiary mixture of a polymer derived from carbon dioxide, a thermoplastic cellulose derivative and a thermoplastic compatibilizer is described. The composition can be melt processed into thin and flexible films that have nanoscale structural characteristics in both the orientation in the transverse direction and the orientation in the machine direction for use in various products. The films, which are made of relatively brittle materials, exhibit a greater degree of ductility, elongation capacity and strength than the original primary component materials such as binary mixtures from which the film is made. |
