abstract |
A process of removing nitrous oxide from a gas stream that includes a contaminating concentration of nitrous oxide to obtain a gas stream with a significantly lower concentration of nitrous oxide is described. The process includes the use of a process system with multiple N20 decomposition reactors each of which includes a nitrous oxide decomposition catalyst and heat transfer units each of which includes a heat exchange means that is connected Operationally in a particular order and arrangement to use in the process. The gas stream is passed to the processing system that operates for a period of time in a specific mode of operation followed by the stopping of this operation and the reversal of the process flow. These steps can be repeated to obtain greater energy recovery efficiency for a given efficiency of removal and destruction of nitrous oxide. |
