abstract Process for preparing 1,3-dihydro-2H-indole-2-ones, starting from indole-2-one compounds substituted with thioalkyl or thiocycloalkyl, which involves a) dissolving or suspending the indole-2-one compounds substituted with thioalkyl or thiocycloalkyl in a polar solvent, b) add a sulfur-containing salt to the solution or suspension, and c) heat the reaction mixture to reflux at a temperature that corresponds at most to the boiling temperature of the solvent. Use of 1,3-dihydro-2H-indole-2-one prepared according to the invention as intermediates for the synthesis of fine chemicals and active ingredients for pharmacy and / or agriculture.
