abstract Cement compositions are described in which the cementation properties of fly ash are carefully controlled. The cement compositions may be substantially free of strong bases and acids such as citric acid (pH2.2) and alkali metal activators including alkaline hydroxides (pH12-14) and metal carbonates (pH11.6). The use of these strong chemicals creates acid-base reactions during the use of the products. Instead of these strong chemicals, an activator based on a lactic acid salt is used as a reaction accelerator. Boric compounds can be used as a retarder in the compositions.
