abstract |
The process for the treatment of lignocellulosic biomass comprises the steps of: A) embedding a feed of lignocellulosic biomass in steam or liquid water or a mixture thereof in the temperature range of 100 to 210 ° C for 1 minute to 24 hours to create an embedded biomass that has a dry content and a first liquid; B) separating at least a part of the first liquid from the embedded biomass to create a first stream of liquid and a first stream of solids; wherein the first stream of solids comprises the embedded biomass; and C) subjecting the first stream of solids to steam explosion to create a stream undergoing steam explosion comprising solids and a second liquid. |
