abstract The present invention describes compositions comprising Agave fructans that stimulate the absorption of mineral salts and their fixation in bone in mammals, under osteoporosis conditions, also generating pronounced beneficial effects in the decrease of plasma glucose levels and in the reduction of weight. body measured in ovarioectomized female mice, administering the standard diet and compositions of the invention. The Agave fructan compositions of the invention have effects that exceed those known in inulin-like fructans from other species, basically because the structures of the Agave fructans are branched and non-linear, as is the case with inulin.
