METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MARKING OVAL DRIED SUBSTRATES. |
abstract |
A method for marking an ophthalmic substrate or other ophthalmic article comprising the steps of - providing an appropriate organic or mineral glass ophthalmic substrate having opposite optical surfaces; - deposit a plurality of layers to define coatings on one or both of the opposite optical surfaces with anti-impact, anti-scratch, anti-reflective and / or anti-stain properties, at least one of the layers being an electrically conductive layer ; -provide a mask that defines a complementary configuration to the desired mark for one of the surface of the coated ophthalmic substrate and place the mask in the immediate proximity of the surface of the ophthalmic substrate; and - providing an ion source and directing the ion beam of the masked surface of the ion source of the ophthalmic substrate to remove at least a portion of one of the outermost coating layers exposed through the mask thus producing a desired mark on the substrate surface coating made visible by fogging. |
