A device and method for directly converting thermal energy into electricity is described. The device comprises a first and second surface preferably of different materials, a gaseous medium having gas molecules in thermal motion between the surfaces. The first surface is operative to transfer charge to the gas molecules that interact with the first surface, and the second surface is operative to receive the charge of the gas molecules that interact with the second surface. |
