abstract The invention describes benzothiophene alkanol piperazine derivatives and their use as antidepressants. The invention describes the benzothiophene alkanol piperazine derivative that has a triple inhibition effect on the reabsorption of 5-HT, NA and DA. Compared with clinically used antidrepressants so far with a single objective, for example, desipramine fluoxetine, and clinically used antidepressants so far that have double objectives, for example, venlafaxine and duloxetine, the benzothiophene alkanol piperazine derivatives of the present invention may have a wider range of indication and fewer toxic and side effects for the nervous system. The benzothiophene alkanol piperazine derivatives are the compounds with the following formula or their pharmaceutically acceptable salt, wherein, Ar, R1-R4, X, Y, m and n have the same definition as defined in claim 1.
