The present invention relates to novel processes for producing ethanol from citrus wastes, using suitable solvent extractions to reduce the presence of compounds that inhibit the fermentation, such as limonene, of citrus wastes. Extraction can be performed before or after the polysaccharides, present in aqueous mixtures comprising citrus wastes, become fermentable sugars. |
