abstract |
Chimeric alpha-amylases are provided that have the characteristics of high thermostability and good starch degradation performance, especially high temperature liquefaction processes. Alpha-amylases are chimeras of AmyL and AmyS enzymes, and are useful in starch degradation processes. Methods for making chimeric enzymes are provided, and methods of using chimeric alpha-amylases for liquefaction, cleaning of starch residue from a surface, and treatment of woven material to remove coatings. Kits are provided to implement the methods. Polynucleotides encoding the chimeric amylases, vectors and expression hosts are also provided. |
