abstract | A highly acidic aqueous liquid composition for hard surface treatment having a pH of approximately 3.5 or less is described which necessarily comprises: 0.001-3.5% by weight of an acid type constituent comprising one or more organic acids, but preferably it comprises lactic acid and one or more additional organic acids, and especially preferably in which the acid type constituent consists only of lactic acid; an organic solvent type constituent, which is desirably selected from a monohydric alcohol and / or a glycol ether; an anionic surfactant type constituent, desirably an anionic surfactant type constituent containing sulfur atom, such as sulfate or sulphonate types; a nonionic surfactant type constituent; optionally a constituent type co-surfactant, including one or more nonionic, cationic, amphoteric or zwitterionic surfactants; optionally one or more additional constituents that are selected from coloring agents, fragrances and fragrance solubilizers, viscosity modifying agents including one or more thickeners, pH adjusting agents and pH buffers including organic and inorganic salts, optical brighteners, opacifying agents, hydrotropics, abrasives, and preservatives, as well as other optional constituents known in the art; and the rest, water, in which water constitutes at least 80% by weight of the composition. The highly acidic aqueous liquid composition for hard surface treatment can be used as such, or it can be used to impregnate absorbent substrates to form rub-off items. Methods for the use of such highly acidic aqueous liquid compositions for treatment of hard surfaces, in the cleaning and / or disinfection of hard surfaces are also described. |
