abstract The present inventors have developed a flame retardant thermoplastic ream composition comprising 100 parts by weight of rubber-modified aromatic vinyl copolymer ream and from about 10 parts by weight to about 30 parts by weight of a brominated diphenylethane mixture ( B) which includes from about 55% by weight to about 85% by weight of hexabromodiphenylethane. The rubber-modified aromatic vinyl copolymer ream (A) according to the present invention is a polymeric ream wherein grafted rubber-containing polymers are dispersed as particles in the vinyl copolymer matrix. The rubber-modified aromatic vinyl copolymer ream (A) includes rubber-containing polymers grafted in an amount of about 10% by weight to about 100% by weight and the vinyl copolymer matrix in an amount of about 0% by weight at about 90% by weight. The brominated diphenylethane mixture (B) may have from about 1% by weight to about 25% by weight of diphenylethane having an odd number of bromine substituents.
