titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR RECOVERY OF PRECIOUS METALS OF A MINERAL OR CONCENTRATE OF SULFIDE OR OTHER SUPPLY MATERIAL.
abstract A process for the extraction of a precious metal, such as gold or silver, from a sulfide mineral or concentrate or other source material, wherein the process comprises subjecting the source material to oxidation with pressure to produce an oxidation paste . The pressure oxidation paste is lowered to a lower temperature and pressure and subsequently subjected to liquid / solid separation to obtain an oxidation solution with pressure and a solid residue containing the precious metal. Subsequently the solid residue is subjected to cyanuration to extract the precious metal. Thiocyanide formation during cyanidation is minimized or counteracted by cyanidation at a high oxygen pressure and a reduced retention time, such as 30 to 90 minutes. A method for reducing the formation of copper cyanide during cyanide percolation is also provided.
