abstract A device, system and method for producing glycosylated proteins in plant culture, particularly proteins that have high mannose glycosylation, while such proteins are directed with an ER signal and / or Golgi deviation. The invention further relates to vectors and methods for the expression and production of enzymatically active mannose-high lysosomal enzymes using transgenic plant root, particularly carrot cells. More particularly, the invention relates to host cells, particularly transgenic suspended carrot cells, vectors and methods for the expression of high yield and production of glucocerebrosidase (GCD) of high biologically active mannose content. The invention further provides compositions and methods for the treatment of lysosomal storage diseases.
