titleOfInvention FORMULATIONS CONTAINING CLOPIDOGREL AND ETER SULFOALQUILICO-CYCLODEXTRINE AND METHODS OF USE
abstract The present invention provides compositions containing clopidogrel, present as a free base or as a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and sulfoalkyl ether-cyclodextrin (SAE-CD). The compositions may be liquid, suspended or solid compositions. They can be adapted for oral, peroral or parenteral administration. The SAE-CD serves to aid in the dissolution and stabilization of clopidogrel in aqueous media. The stability of clopidogrel against hydrolytic degradation, thermal degradation and photolytic degradation is improved. The SAE-CD provides improved results over other cyclodextrin derivatives. The clopidogrel composition containing SAE-CD can be provided in liquid form, solid form or as a reconstitutable powder. Liquid compositions can be prepared both ready for use and concentrated. The liquid composition is optionally available as a clear solution. The compositions herein can be administered by the peroral or parenteral route and can provide substantial pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and / or therapeutic advantages over a tablet-shaped composition that is administered by the peroral route and which excludes SAE-CD.
