titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR ELIMINATING MATERIALS FROM A LIQUID FLOW. |
abstract | A method for removing materials and / or particles from a liquid flow constituted by grouping, vigorously mixing polysaccharides or hydrocolloids within the liquid flow and carrying out the subsequent gelation of said polysaccharides or hydrocolloids by means of cations capable of gelling. Large and strong gelled agglomerates of pollutants and polysaccharides or hydrocolloids can be formed, with the help of suitable cations. Gelled agglomerates lend themselves well to being separated from a liquid flow by flotation, in a sieve, a centrifuge, a cyclone or through any other conventional separation process. Likewise, a method is described for mixing undissolved polysaccharides or hydrocolloids with a contaminated aqueous stream, cutting the polysaccharides or hydrocolloids into the aqueous stream to improve logistics and achieve economic savings in the treatment of large volumes of water. The use of diluted polysaccharide solutions for the treatment of a variety of effluents is also described. An application of the invention is provided for removing hydrocarbons within the oil industry, but also for other kinds of water with petroleum content and also water with organic or particulate contamination. |
