titleOfInvention | SILICONE COATING COMPOSITION FOR PROTECTION AGAINST CATHODIC VOLTAGE. |
abstract | This invention relates to silicone coating systems for corrosion protection facilitates easy and convenient application by means of conventional methods such as brush immersion and spray application. The coating provides protection against the environmental effects caused by cathodic stress together with high physical strength and adhesion obtained with a suitable mixture of reinforcing fillers and extenders. The coating is an organopolysiloxane rubber composition containing approximately 10 to 80 percent by weight of metal slaughter filler to provide protection against the environmental effects that cause cathodic stress. Preferably the coating is a coating composition part of an organopolysiloxane rubber part that vulcanizes at room temperature to provide protection against cathodic stress. The present invention also provides a method for coating metal surfaces to protect the metal surface from corrosion and cathodic stress. The method comprises applying to the surface a thin layer of the composition of an organopolysiloxane rubber part and allowing the composition of an organopolysiloxane rubber part to harden at room temperature forming a silicone elastomer. |
