abstract A method of stereoselectivity to produce an optically active alcohol characterized in that it comprises reducing an aromatic ketone by using an optically active 2- [bis (4-methoxyphenyl) hydroxymethyl] pyrrolidine, sodium borhydride and chlorotrimethylsilane. According to this method, an optically active alcohol showing high enantioselectivity can be produced even on a large scale.
