abstract |
The invention is directed to efficient methods for depositing highly adherent anti-microbial materials on a wide range of surfaces. A controlled cathodic arc process is described, which results in improved adhesion of silver oxide to polymers and other surfaces, such as medical device surfaces. The deposition of the anti-microbial materials directly on the substrates is possible in a low cost manner, which maintains the high anti-microbial activity in several weeks, when the coated devices are used in vivo. |
