abstract A process for preparing an adherent coating on an object (as well as the coated object) by a first plasma polymerization in a first organosilicon compound under conditions to deposit a polyorganosiloxane layer on the object; and / or after plasma polymerizing a second organosilicon compound under conditions to deposit a silicon oxide layer in the polyorganosiloxane layer or directly into the object, the object comprises a polymer composition comprising (i) from 99 to 50 per weight percent of a polymer having more than 90 weight percent monomer units containing three carbons and optionally monomer units selected from the group consisting of alpha olefins containing two carbons and / or four to twelve carbons, and (ii) from 1 to 55 percent by weight of a second copolymer comprising units of monomers selected from the group consisting of alpha olefins containing two carbons and alpha olefins containing four to twelve carbons and optionally up to 10 percent by weight of a diene monomer containing less than thirteen carbon atoms; or the object comprises an alternative polymer composition comprising (iii) from 1 to 50 percent by weight of a propylene copolymer and up to 10 percent by weight of a comonomer selected from the group consisting of alpha olefins containing two carbons and / or four to twelve carbons; and (iv) 99 to 50 percent by weight of an impact copolymer consisting of a mixture of polypropylene homopolymer with up to 50 percent by weight of a random propylene copolymer and an alpha olefin containing two carbons and / or of Four to twelve carbons.
