titleOfInvention RAMIFIED IONOMERS.
abstract A branched aromatic ionomer is prepared by copolymerizing a first monomer that has an aromatic portion and an unsaturated alkyl portion and a second monomer that has an ionic portion and at least one unsaturated portion. The ionic portion may have a cationic group that has a valence of +1 or larger. Styrene is between the first useful monomers and sodium methacrylate and zinc dimethacrylate are among the second useful monomers. Branched aromatic ionomers can be used to prepare items that include foamed polystyrene and microwave saving dishes and utensils.
