titleOfInvention | MICROFLUIDICAL TEST DEVICES. |
abstract | A microfluidic test device is provided to determine the presence or absence of an analyte within a test sample. The present invention provides a technique for achieving a continuous flow in a microfluidic device by employing at least one input channel, an analysis zone and a plurality of transmission channels placed around the perimeter of the analysis zone. In one embodiment, for example, the transmission channels extend radially from the analysis area. As a result of the particular configuration of the microfluidic device, a "single step" test can be carried out without the need for active forces, such as a pressure force, an electro-kinetic force, etc., to induce sample flow of fluid test through the device. Similarly, the flow rate is controlled so that the residence time of the fluid test sample within the analysis zone is long enough to allow the desired reactions and / or detection. |
