titleOfInvention A PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF ALFA-ARIL-ALFA-PIPERID-2 -IL-ACETAMIDS AND THE ACID HYDROLYSIS OF THE SAME.
abstract A process for the preparation a-aryl-a-piperid-2-yl-acetamides of the formula (I) (see formula (I)) wherein Ar is as defined in the description, by the catalytic reduction of a- aryl-a-piperid-2-yl-acetamides (II) with rhodium catalysts; the acetamides of the formula (II) (see formula (II)) can subsequently be hydrolyzed into the corresponding arylacetic acids, for example, ritalinic acid, a direct precursor of methylphenidate.
