titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR PREPARING 2-NITRO-4-SULFAMIL-DIPHENYLAMINE DYES
abstract The present invention relates to a process for preparing 2-nitro-4-sulfamyl-diphenylamine dyes of the general formula I: characterized in that o-nitrochlorobenzene is sulfonated with chlorosulfonic acid at temperatures of about 100 to 110 degrees C, to acid 4- chloro-3-nitrobenzenesulfonic of the formula: this is transformed with thionyl chloride, at approximately 70-80 degrees C, to high purity 4-chloro-3-nitrobenzene sulphlorchloride; The latter precipitates in a crystalline form when pouring the reaction mixture on ice and the obtained 4-chloro-3-nitrobenzene sulfochloride is immediately condensed with an aliphatic or aromatic amine of the general formula.
