| abstract |
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a robust foamed product, characterized in that it comprises the steps of: molding an outer shell of flexible material, having a surrounding, rough peripheral edge; providing an insert having a planar extension and a peripheral edge corresponding to that of the cover on the surrounding raw peripheral edge; locating the cover and the insert in a molding apparatus having a mold cavity part and a lid to form a foam cavity therebetween; directing foam precursors to the foaming cavity, to fill between the insert and cover and react the precursors to form a layer of elastic foam behind the cover and bond the cover insert; provide a post formable flange on the insert and post form the flange, to cause it to cover the rough peripheral edge of the cover and heat import to the foam formed between the cover and the insert. |
