titleOfInvention | PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF INORGANIC MINERAL POWDER |
abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of inorganic mineral powder from a mineral, with the following composition: ammonium sulfate 83.0, l98.0; aluminum oxide hydrate, A1 (OH) 3 7.25 + - 1.5, 17.3; Magnesium oxide, MgO 1.99 *, 4.7; Iron, Fe 3.33, 7.9; Silicon dioxide, SiO2 0.62, 1.5; Sodium hydroxide, NaOH 0.42 * 1.0; Potassium hydroxide, KOH 0.46 * 1.1; Pure water, at 105 degrees F, (40.5 degrees C) * 0.5 H2O 2.53, 6.0; weight percent and parts by weight, respectively, plus calcium, zinc and copper in traces, characterized by the procedure of crushing the ore to a uniform mesh size and separating the lumps, pulverizing the ore on a -40 (tyler) sieve; add the fine mineral at a rate of .363 kg. of mineral per liter of H2SO4 solution (14 percent) and water (86 percent deionized), optionally with heating, pressurization and stirring; suspend the mineral by heating the aqueous mineral mixture to at least 121 degrees C, until the "pulp" takes a light buff color, optionally with agitation; cool whereupon the pulp settles, is allowed to cool and rest overnight; filter the pulp, slowly add ammonium hydroxide with stirring, keeping the pH between 7.5 and 8.0, let the solution stand overnight and filter again and dry at 124 degrees C. |
