abstract The present invention relates to heterocyclic compounds of formula I which have a microbiocidal activity, in particular a fungicidal activity, as well as methods of using the compounds of formula I to control microbes: wherein a represents xc (r10r11) -c (= o) -, xc (r12r13) -c (= s) -, xoc (= o) -, xoc (= s) -, xn (r14) -c (= o) -, xn (r15) -c (= s) -, xc (r16r17) -so2- or xn = c (r30) -, in each case x indicating the link which is connected to r1; t is cr18 or n; y1, y2, y3 and y4 each independently represent cr19 or n; q represents o or s; n is 1 or 2; p is 1 or 2, with the proviso that when n is 2, p is 1; R1 represents (a) R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R10, R11, R12, R13, R16, R17, R18, R19 and R30 each independently represent hydrogen, halogen, cyano, C1-C4 alkyl or haloalkyl; in c1-c4; R8, R14 and R15 each independently represent hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl; and r9 represents phenyl, benzyl or a group (a): phenyl, benzyl and the group (a) are each optionally substituted with 1 to 3 substituents independently selected from C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 haloalkyl, halogen, cyano, hydroxy and amino; or a salt or n-oxide thereof.
