abstract The invention relates to a novel method for the diagnosis of insulin resistance using the detection of one or more acylcarnitines (lauroyl carnitine, myristyl carnitine, stearoylcarnitine, palmitoylcarnitine, oleyl carnitine, linoleyl carnitine) in blood plasma, and when the concentration of one or more acylcarnitines determined 2 hours after glucose uptake is not lower. 15% compared to control on fasting, insulin resistance has been diagnosed.
