titleOfInvention | Improved initiator system for curing ball saturated polyester and vinyl ester resin compositions |
abstract | A thermosetting polymer composition comprising a resin of an ethylenically unsaturated polyester or vinyl ester, an organic peroxide initiator component, an accelerator for decomposition of the peroxide, and an inhibitor of polymerization of the resin is disclosed. Wherein the inhibitor is present in an amount relative to the amount of promoter present so that the gel time of the composition is independent of the amount of promoter present. The indicated ratio between the accelerator and the inhibitor provides the benefits of both components and also allows the operator to obtain curing performance and properties as a function of only the peroxide content of the composition. |
