abstract |
The present invention relates to the use of a single enantiomer of omeprazole or an alkaline salt thereof or other optically pure substituted 2- (2-pyridinylmethylsulfinyl) -1H-benzimidazole as well as other structurally related sulfoxide or alkaline salts thereof, The present invention relates to a novel method for selectively synthesizing a compound of formula (I). The claimed method is to asymmetrically oxidize the prochiral sulfide in a form enriched in a single enantiomer or enantiomer of the corresponding sulfoxide. The present application also claims an enantiomeric sulfoxide product prepared by the process of the present invention and its use as a medicament. |
