titleOfInvention Imidazothiazole
abstract The compound of formula (1) has a clear tendency to form a liquid crystalline S (smetic) phase.n n n n n n n n Thus, the optically inert compound of formula (1) also has a smectic phase, in particular a Sc phase, further inclined on the nematic phase. On the other hand, the optically active compound of formula (1) has an inclined smectic phase, in particular a chiral Sc phase, further on the cholesteric phase. The compounds mentioned are therefore particularly suitable as ingredients and dopants, respectively, for the preparation of a very wide range of liquid crystalline mixtures. A class of compounds consisting of compounds of formula (1) provides a wide range of novel components and mixtures for optimization and modification of liquid crystalline mixtures.
