Improved Hair Removal Method |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a permanent destruction method of unwanted hair. The pores in the areas of the skin where unwanted hair grows are contaminated with contaminants consisting of a large number of fine particles with high absorption in at least one frequency band of light. The skin portion is then exposed to a series of short light pulses in a high absorption frequency band, wherein the first short pulses are sufficient energy to cause the particles to explode into two or more pieces, spreading the contaminant into the pores. And the following pulses have enough energy to cause the multiple pieces to explode into additional pieces and further spread the contaminants into the pores, and the explosion and energy transferred to or from the particles and pieces It damages the surrounding skin tissue and kills the hairs growing in the pores. In a preferred embodiment the particles are 1 micron carbon particles and each portion is exposed to about 5 laser pulses of 1.06 micron wavelength, calculated with Nd: YAG laser, each pulse having an energy density of 3 Joules / cm 2 and a pulse width of 10 nanoseconds.
