titleOfInvention PROTEINACEOUS FEED SUBSTANCES HAVINGLOW LEVELS OF ZINC AND HIGH RUMEN! @ & BYPASS POTENTIALS, AND A METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF
abstract The present invention relates to a vegetable feed composition having a high rumen-bypass potential for feeding ruminants and a method of manufacturing the same. The composition of the present invention consists of a protein containing flour and a zinc salt present in an amount sufficient to provide 0.003-0.008 parts of zinc ions per part of the protein in the flour. The compositions of the present invention have a misc-bypass potential of at least 30, as measured by “total percentage of useful and undigested protein” or “AUN”. The process for the preparation of the composition of the present invention consists in treating the flour with low levels of zinc ions and heating the mixture under wet heating conditions.
