abstract | Propylene / Ion in a fluidized bed catalyst which improves the process of introducing methanol into the fluidized bed catalytic reactor to the top of the reactor where methanol reacts with at least a portion but not all of the excess ammonia without affecting acrylonitrile yield. A method for substantial reduction or complete removal of ammonium sulfate, which occurs during the production of acrylonitrile by direct ammonia oxidation of propane, ammonia and oxygen containing gas (eg air). Preferably, methanol is introduced into the reactor below its coking temperature. In particular, when using a poor oxygen fluid bed catalyst, additional oxygen containing gas is introduced into the reactor about 8-14 inches from the methanol feed point. |
