abstract |
The present invention provides an improved method of making halogenated steroidal dienes. The method includes converting steroidal 3-one to 3-halo and simultaneously converting 17-carboxylic acid to 7-carboxamide in a single reaction without separating intermediates. The method is carried out by reacting a steroidal starting material with a halogen-Bilsmeier reagent. |
