The present invention relates to a method for trapping ruthenium gas in polyvinylpyridine, which is particularly useful for recovering radioactive ruthenium from irradiated nuclear fuel.n n n The method includes contacting a gaseous ruthenium-containing gas with an adsorbent 116 containing a vinylpyridine polymer and a copolymer to fix ruthenium to the adsorbent. The gas consists of steam from fission product concentrates containing ruthenium and is heated (at 31) in the presence of oxidants to volatilize ruthenium. |
