abstract A porous material with open pores is produced by forming an emulsion slurry by vigorous stirring of a mixt. comprising (a) as main component, an epoxy resin of the bisphenol type, contg. 18-50 wt.%, w.r.t. 100% of the epoxy resin, of reactive diluent(s) with 1 or more epoxy rings, (b) a polyamide hardener, (c) a filler, and (d) water. The slurry is cast into a water-impermeable mould and hardened while contg. water. The material can be used as filter medium, air diffusion medium, casting mould, or catalyst carrier.
