abstract |
A process for the production of high purity acetic acid from a carbonylation reaction is described, wherein the carbonylation reaction is carried out while a low ethyl iodide content is maintained in the reaction medium. The ethyl iodide concentration is dependent on the removal of acetaldehyde from the reaction medium and/or A) the partial pressure of hydrogen in the reactor, B) the concentration of methyl acetate in the reaction medium; and/or C) adjusting the concentration of methyl iodide in the reaction medium. |
