Wettable silicone hydrogel contact lenses |
abstract |
The present invention relates to (1) a post-autoclave packaging solution containing a polymeric surfactant having an HLB value of from about 11 to about 16 and a Mn of from about 800 to about 20,000 Daltons and (2) a ready-to-use packaging solution immersed in the packaging solution. An ophthalmic product comprising a sealed, autoclave-sterilized lens package comprising a silicone hydrogel (SiHy) contact lens. Ready-to-use SiHy contact lenses are a polymeric surfactant that provides excellent wettability to ready-to-use SiHy contact lenses straight out of the lens package, and also physically distributed in the polymer matrix of SiHy contact lenses and are ideal for daily wear for more than 7 days. and a leaching polymeric surfactant that can be released into the eye of a patient during a period of time to supplement the lens surface-bound polymeric surfactant to provide sustainable wettability to the contact lens and the eye. |
