The present invention discloses a genetically engineered Kluyveromyces sp. yeast cell comprising at least a genetic modification that inactivates or deletes a nucleic acid sequence encoding a transcription factor of SEQ ID NO:2, specifically Haa1. The genetically engineered yeast cell according to the present invention has improved lactic acid resistance, lactic acid production, or a combination thereof compared to the parental cell. |
