abstract The systems and methods discussed herein relate to ambisonic signal processing. In one example, the first order Ambisonics signal may be encoded with an imbalance in its panning equation or component. The imbalance may be due to intentionally encoded omni-channel or intermediate channel signals, which may be intended for rendering using, for example, something other than an active Ambisonics decoder. In one example, a method for decomposing a first-order Ambisonics signal comprises passive decoding using information about the difference between the total energy of the W component and the total energy of the X, Y, and Z components of the first-order Ambisonics signal.
