Methods are described for isolating components that have traditionally been considered waste materials in mold fermentation compositions. A waste component may be separated from the unfiltered composition or from a separate stream separated from the composition. In some embodiments, the filamentous fungus used in the preparation of the fungal fermentation composition is specifically targeted for isolation. The incorporation of separated waste components into various products is also described herein. In some embodiments, the isolated ingredients are used in alternative meat products and other foods designed for human consumption. The isolated component may also be used in animal feed, as a feedstock for other fermentation processes, or for use in food processing, cosmetic manufacturing or chemical processes. |
