abstract | A combination of a catalyst for hydrotreating heavy oil that exhibits higher performance than a conventional catalyst system, and a method for treating heavy oil are provided. The hydroprocessing method of the present invention is a method for hydroprocessing heavy oil comprising a demetal section, a transition section, and a desulfurization section. The desulfurization section includes a group 8 metal in the periodic table in different ratios, and the catalyst group A and the catalyst B group are stacked in two or more layers. Catalyst group A is composed of one or more catalysts supporting a Group 8 metal containing Co and Mo as an active metal component on a carrier, and Group B of the catalyst is a Group 8 metal of the periodic table containing Ni on a carrier and one or more catalysts supporting Mo as active metal components. Catalyst group A and catalyst group B are alternately charged from the upstream side of the desulfurization unit, and the catalyst group A and catalyst group B in the hydrodesulfurization unit at a volume ratio of 10 to 90% is used, and catalyst B group on the downstream side is characterized in that 10 to 90% is used in a volume ratio in the hydrodesulfurization unit. |
