Modified Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) Particles for Gene Therapy |
abstract |
The present invention relates to improved adeno-associated virus (AAV) particles for gene delivery and gene therapy. Adeno-associated virus (AAV) particles comprising a modified capsid are provided. The present invention also relates to the preparation of improved AAV particles of the present invention by removing the native binding sites of adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsids and introducing ligand binding sites into the capsid to provide AAVs that transduce only the specific cell of interest. it's about how A further aspect of the invention relates to modified AAV particles for use in the treatment of a disease and methods of treating a disease comprising administering to a subject in need thereof the modified AAV particles. Another aspect of the invention relates to the AAV particles of the invention for transfection of cells, for example as a gene delivery tool in basic research. |
