Novel Gardnerella endolysin and uses thereof |
abstract |
The present invention relates to novel species-selective phage endolysins and their use for treating bacterial vaginosis (BV). The present invention provides recombinant endolysin, ie domain-exchanged endolysin. The present invention also relates to said endolysin for use in treating a disease or disorder such as a bacterial infection, in particular BV. The present invention further relates to a polynucleotide encoding said endolysin. The polynucleotides may also be used to treat such diseases or disorders. The present invention also provides a pharmaceutical composition comprising the endolysin of the present invention for use in treating such a disease or disorder. The endolysin, polynucleotide and pharmaceutical composition may be administered topically, particularly intravaginally. |
