The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating dry eye syndrome or degenerative brain disease containing a poppy leaf extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient, and the poppy poppy ( Papaver rhoeas ) extract or fraction thereof of the present invention is effective for oxidative stress. By increasing the degree of conjunctival cell protective activity against and alleviating the condition of degenerative brain disease, the poppy extract or its fraction can be usefully used as a pharmaceutical composition or health functional food composition for the prevention or treatment of dry eye syndrome or degenerative brain disease. It can contribute to reducing social costs and improving quality of life in an aging society through the development of materials for improving cognitive abilities. |
