A method for producing a BTX compound comprising benzene, toluene, and xylene, the method comprising feeding a heavy reformate to a reactor containing a complex zeolite catalyst. The composite zeolite catalyst comprises a mixture of layered mordenite (MOR-L) and ZSM-5 comprising a layered or rod-like form with a layer thickness of less than 30 nm. MOR-L, ZSM-5, or both include one or more impregnated metals. The method further comprises simultaneously performing transalkylation and dealkylation of the heavy reformate in a reactor to produce the BTX compound. The complex zeolite catalyst can simultaneously catalyze both transalkylation and dealkylation reactions. |
