abstract The present invention relates to an oral pouch cigarette-free or low-tobacco nicotine product comprising a pH adjusting agent comprising or consisting of: (i) Na 2 CO 3 , K 2 CO 3 , NaHCO 3 and/or KHCO 3 , and (ii) salts of formula (I): M 2+ (A n- ) m Formula I or a hydrate of the salt, here M 2+ is selected from the group consisting of Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ , Mn 2+ , Zn 2+ and Fe 2+ , A n- is chloride, lactate, maleate, succinate, citrate, ascorbate, Tartrate, acetate, phosphate, sulfate, nitrate, gluconate, alginate, ammonium, oxalate, aspartate, glycinate, picolate, oxide, cysteinate, glutamate, hydroxide, laurate, stearate , palmitate, undecylenate, gluceptate, glucerophosphate, gluvionate, glucoheptonate, guanylate, inoate, propionate, sorbate, salicylate, benzoate, erythrobate, an anion selected from the group consisting of formate, iodide, pangammatate, and any combination thereof; n is 1 or 2, m is 1 or 2, -(nxm)= -2, the salt is present in an amount within the range of 0.1% to 5% by weight based on the total weight of the filler material, the salt has a water solubility of at least about 0.04 M and/or at least 1 g/L, and - optionally tobacco material in an amount within the range of 0.05% to 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the filling material. The pH adjuster moderates an increase in pH of the oral pouch-free or low-tobacco nicotine product upon storage, wherein the pH of the oral pouch-free or low-tobacco nicotine product upon storage exceeds a value of about 9, 9.2, or 9.5; / or prevent changes by more than ± 0.5 pH units during storage.
