Composite materials for use as electrodes of electrochemical cells include: a matrix provided by matrix particles comprising an electrode active material; and a conductive fraction that is both electrically conductive and ionically conductive, wherein the conductive fraction is provided by conductive particles distributed between the matrix particles. Conductive particles include materials that are both ionic and electrically conductive; or a mixture of ionically conductive particles and electrically conductive particles, wherein the electrically conductive particles have a sphericity of at least 0.6. The conductive particles have a D90 value that is at least 10% of the D50 value of the matrix particles. |
